Former Israeli Prime Minister Olmert: 'Netanyahu wants to destroy Israel. It is time to oust him'

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, in the Haaretz newspaper, penned an article titled "I accuse Netanyahu of treason" .

"Netanyahu wants to destroy Israel, nothing less. It is time to oust him" stated Olmert, noting that the Prime Minister does not want the "war" to end or for the hostages to return home safely.

Olmert, "Netanyahu wants an endless war while weakening Israel's relations with its neighbors and the US" he stated.

Stating that Netanyahu is avoiding a deal that would allow for a prisoner exchange under the argument that it would prevent achieving a "total victory" against Hamas, and that the Prime Minister is thus deliberately abandoning the Israeli hostages held in Gaza, Olmert, "A total victory is not an option right now, and it has not been an option since the day the Prime Minister first proposed it" he assessed.

On the other hand, instead of agreeing to a deal mediated by France and the US that would end the current intense conflict with Lebanon and allow tens of thousands of northern Israeli residents displaced by the fighting to return to their homes, Netanyahu "intends to expand the war and initiate a direct, full-scale military confrontation with Hezbollah in the north" he stated.

ARGUED THAT THE NETANYAHU GOVERNMENT PRIORITIZES PERSONAL INTERESTS

Olmertnoted that Netanyahu is conducting a systematic campaign against the army, security forces, and political leadership through his proxies, family members, and spokespeople in various media outlets.

Accusing Netanyahu of deliberately endangering the lives of Israeli soldiers Olmert argued that the government is prioritizing the "personal interests" of the parties it openly represents, as well as specific population groups and ministers known to support the government.

''NETANYAHU IS DELIBERATELY TRYING TO DESTROY THE ALLIANCE WITH THE US''

Olmert, stated, "I accuse the Israeli Prime Minister of deliberately trying to destroy the political, security, and military alliance between Israel and the US" he said.

Touching upon the importance of relations with the US, Olmert continued as follows:

"Israel's entire air power relies on the American commitment to defend Israel. We have no other reliable source for essential equipment, ammunition, and advanced weaponry that Israel cannot produce on its own. In recent months, hundreds of American transport planes have landed at Israeli military bases, carrying thousands of tons of advanced, vital military equipment and ammunition."

''A CALCULATED ATTEMPT TO SABOTAGE BIDEN'S ELECTION CAMPAIGN''

Stating that Netanyahu's accusations against the US administration—that they are delaying the delivery of military equipment and thus delaying Israel's decisive victory—are an "irresponsible provocation," Olmertnoted that this is "(US President Joe) Biden's election campaign, a calculated attempt to sabotage it" he recorded.

Olmert, "Netanyahu must be judged in the court of the Israeli people for each of these accusations. This must not be delayed. Every single day that this cursed man continues to be responsible for the state's administration poses a concrete danger to the country's future and existence" he assessed.

Former Prime Minister Olmert, accused Netanyahu, whom he also argued is deliberately undermining steps toward normalization with Arab countries, of "deliberately blocking the chance to establish a new regional axis based on a partnership between moderate Arab states such as Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia, and possibly other Muslim countries beyond the Middle East."
