Fountain collapses during Spain's World Cup celebrations: 13-year-old youth loses life
A 13-year-old youth died and two others were injured after a fountain collapsed in Ciudad Rodrigo following Spain's World Cup victory.
A tragic incident occurred during the celebrations held after Spain reached the championship by defeating Argentina 1-0 in the World Cup final.
The Arbol Gordo fountain, located in the Ciudad Rodrigo region of the Salamanca province in the northwest of the country, collapsed during the celebrations. A 13-year-old youth lost his life in the incident, and two others were injured.
In a statement made by the emergency services, it was stated that the incident, which occurred around 00:30 local time, took place after several people climbed onto the fountain during the celebrations.
Spain had defeated Argentina in the final with a goal scored by Ferran Torres in extra time, and the victory was celebrated in different parts of the country, especially in the capital, Madrid.
