In France's Caribbean colony of Martinique, a nighttime curfew has been declared in certain neighborhoods until September 23 due to protests that began in the first week of September over the high cost of living.
According to a statement by the Martinique Prefecture, security measures have been implemented in certain neighborhoods in the cities of Fort-de-France and Lamentin following 'violations of public order' in the region.
In the neighborhoods in question, the sale and transport of fuel, flammable materials, and fireworks in portable containers will be prohibited.
Furthermore, a curfew will be enforced in these neighborhoods between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM, which will remain in effect until September 23 and may be extended if deemed necessary.
