The French Navy conducted an operation off the coast of Martinique on a Turkish ship named Haliç-Equality, which had departed from Istanbul. During the operation, 9 tons of cocaine with a market value of 3 billion dollars were found on the ship.
The Haliç-Equality ship belongs to a Turkish shipowner identified as H.B.T. The ship was stopped near the island of Martinique on January 10. During the searches, cocaine was seized in 250 packages.
According to the report by Gazete Duvar, the ship had departed from Istanbul on November 12, 2024. The ship, which stopped in the West African country of Guinea-Bissau on December 10, later headed toward the island of Martinique. The French Navy stopped the ship there and carried out a comprehensive search.
It is stated that the Haliç-Equality is in scrap condition and has a market value of around 200 thousand dollars. The investigation into the operation is ongoing.
