France summons Iranian Ambassador over high school protests

A diplomatic tension has emerged between France and Iran due to the high school protests that have been ongoing in France for approximately two weeks.

French Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pascal Confavreux argued that the Iranian administration is conducting an online disinformation campaign regarding the student protests in France.

Confavreux announced that for this reason, Iran's Ambassador to Paris, Mohammad Amin-Nejad, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry. Stating that the Iranian diplomat was informed that the "false content" circulated online by the Iranian Foreign Ministry is absolutely unacceptable, Confavreux said, "These shameful provocations must end."

Confavreux also recalled that the Iranian administration had summoned France's Ambassador to Tehran, Pierre Cochard, to the Foreign Ministry a day earlier, stating that this decision was unjustified.

Reports in Iranian state media stated that Cochard was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry on the grounds of the use of violence against students and human rights violations during the protests in France.
