The prime minister is changing in France following the elections. It was announced that Prime Minister Gabriel Attal resigned today following a cabinet meeting led by French President Emmanuel Macron.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency, it was reported that Attal, whose resignation has been accepted, will continue to carry out his duties until a new government is formed.

The statement further noted, “Republican forces must work together to build unity around projects and actions in the service of the French people so that this period may end as quickly as possible.”

Prime Minister Attal had met with Emmanuel Macron to submit his resignation after the alliance of left-wing parties emerged as the winner in France's general elections.

In a statement from the presidential office, it was previously indicated that Macron had asked Attal to remain in the post of prime minister for the time being in order to ensure stability in the country.
