House arrest of Gagauz Autonomous Region Governor Gutsul extended: Known for opposition to NATO and EU
The house arrest of Evgenia Gutsul, the Governor of the Gagauz Autonomous Region within the Republic of Moldova, who was detained at Chisinau Airport on March 25 while traveling to Istanbul, has been extended for another 30 days. Gutsul is known for her opposition to NATO and the EU.
In a statement made through her lawyers, Gutsul, the elected Governor of the Gagauz Turks, said, "My freedom to fulfill the will of the people who elected me is also being taken away. But there is one thing they cannot take from us: our determination, our faith, and our strength."

Evgenia Gutsul stated the following:
"Today, the court extended my house arrest for another 30 days without any justification or evidence. This is not justice.
This is political revenge and an attempt to silence Gagauzia.
Not only is my freedom of movement being taken away, but also my freedom to fulfill the will of the people who elected me.
But there is one thing they cannot take from us: our determination, our faith, and our strength. I thank everyone who stands with me. Your support gives me the strength to continue."
