Israel to build a 'wall' on newly occupied Gaza territory: The 'Separation Wall' is growing
It has been learned that Israel has begun work to extend the West Bank Wall, known as the 'Separation Wall,' into newly seized Palestinian territories.
The West Bank Barrier, nicknamed the 'Apartheid Wall,' is being expanded into newly 'seized' Palestinian lands by Israel. Israeli construction machinery has begun excavation work to build new sections to be added to the wall.
According to information received from eyewitnesses, lands belonging to the town of Sinjil in the city of Ramallah, located in the central part of the West Bank, were destroyed by an Israeli bulldozer.
According to witnesses, Israeli authorities previously sent a military order to the Sinjil Municipality to seize 15 dunams of land in the town for the construction of a separation wall.
Witnesses stated that Israel is preparing to build a separation wall that would encircle the town and separate it from the street where Israelis who have seized Palestinian lands are settled, adding that Palestinian-owned lands are being destroyed for this purpose.
The wall, which is planned to be built by seizing the lands of Palestinians, will restrict the movement of citizens in the region and force them to use long alternative routes to reach their homes.
Muayyad Shaaban, head of the Wall and Colonization Resistance Commission affiliated with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), announced on March 30 that Israel has seized 27 thousand dunams of Palestinian land since October 7, when its attacks on Gaza began.
According to a report prepared by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the Palestinian land seized by Israel in the occupied West Bank in 2023 has doubled compared to the previous year.
The first section of the Separation Wall was built in 1994. On the other hand, construction work progressed slowly until 2003, and after 2003, Israel shifted to a policy of surrounding 'all' Palestinian-owned lands with the wall.
The wall causes serious problems in the daily lives of Palestinians. Palestinians are periodically unable to carry out their daily tasks due to Israel closing roads.
Especially in Palestinian settlements, which are largely surrounded by Israeli territory, daily life periodically comes to a standstill.
The United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) had taken a stance against the construction of the wall, criticizing Israel's policies.
According to OCHA, the 'Separation Wall' is being used by Israel to force Palestinians to migrate from their lands.
