Strong winds and dry air fuel California wildfires: Fire whirl warning issued

Wildfires that began in the U.S. state of California have been burning for 9 days. Authorities announced that the number of people who have lost their lives in the fires that have been raging for days in and around the city of Los Angeles is at least 25.

DEATH TOLL RISES

Reporting that the number of people who lost their lives in the fires has risen to 25, officials stated that more than 12 thousand structures have been destroyed. It was reported that the fire, which has been burning for days in the Palisades and Eaton areas where it was most intense, has been largely brought under control.

However, the National Weather Service warned that new fires could break out due to strong winds and dry weather conditions. Meteorologists say that rare fire whirls, which can reach heights of 10 to 15 meters, could form and increase the intensity of the fire.

It is reported that more than 37 thousand acres of land have been scorched so far in the fires that began in various parts of Los Angeles on the morning of January 7. Approximately 150 thousand people have been evacuated from their homes due to the fire.

The total damage and economic loss are estimated to be between 250 and 275 billion dollars.
