Syrians in Lebanon hit the road to return to their country

Lebanese and Palestinians joined in the joy of the Syrians who had taken refuge in Lebanon after the civil war began in the country.

Lebanese national Shadi Tuumi, who joined in the Syrians' joy, said, "I want to congratulate all the free Syrian people today. We Lebanese are very happy. Hopefully, we will go to Syria soon. It is a very good thing that this bad man is gone."

Tuumi stated that they welcomed the return of the Syrians to their country and expressed that everyone around him was very happy.

Muhammad Ali from Aleppo also said, "We are happy because of Assad's fall, and the whole nation is happy."

Stating that he has been away from his homeland for exactly 13 years, Ali said his relatives are in Syria and added, "I am from Aleppo, we will definitely return. I will return for good."

A young Syrian woman named Shahed noted the following:

"Thank God we are rid of the Assad regime. Hopefully, we will return to our home. I have never even seen my homeland. We had to leave there when I was 5 years old. We have been here for exactly 13 years."

A Syrian woman who set off on the road to return to her homeland with her baby in her arms said, "Thank God we are rid of Assad. We will return to our country after many long years, thank God. I am from Idlib, but I have been here for exactly 13 years."

DEVELOPMENTS IN SYRIA

Clashes between Assad regime forces and anti-regime armed groups began on November 27 in the western countryside of Aleppo province in northern Syria.

On November 30, anti-regime groups, which had taken most of the center of Aleppo from regime forces, had established control over the entirety of Idlib on the same day. Following intense clashes, the groups took the city center of Hama from regime forces on December 5.

Anti-regime groups had begun to advance after capturing some settlements in the strategically important Homs province, which opens to the capital Damascus.

Military opposition forces, which launched an operation on December 6 in Daraa province on the Syrian-Jordanian border, had retaken the provincial center from regime forces following the clashes.

The entirety of As-Suwayda province in the south of the country also passed under the control of opposition groups on December 7.

On the same day, local opposition forces in Quneitra also secured control of the provincial center.

In Homs province, which opens to the capital, anti-regime forces had taken control of the city center on December 7.

Advancing against Assad regime forces in the southwest of Damascus, the groups entered the southern suburbs of the capital on December 7.

Regime forces had also withdrawn from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior, and the international airport in Damascus.

As anti-regime armed groups began to take control of the capital, the Assad regime lost all control of the capital in a short time on the morning of December 8.

Thus, the 61-year bloody rule of the Ba'ath Party came to an end.

In the Operation Dawn of Freedom launched by the Syrian National Army on December 1 against the terrorist organization PKK/YPG in the Aleppo countryside, the Tel Rifaat district center was liberated from terrorism.
