Trump draws backlash at Pope's funeral! His actions and attire become a talking point

A funeral ceremony was held at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican for Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of Catholics and Head of State of the Vatican, who passed away on April 21.

Thousands attended the ceremony, where a 6-kilometer procession brought the casket to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major (Santa Maria Maggiore).

Donald Trump, who attended the ceremony with his wife Melania, was criticized for his attire and his actions.

While the area where the funeral ceremony took place was clearly divided into four sections, each section was designated for different groups of people.

Among the areas designated for attendees, cardinals, clergy, and the public, one of Trump's actions drew attention.

Trump stood alone in front of the dignitaries. While all other world leaders arrived in black attire, Trump chose to wear a blue suit. This situation became a trending topic on social media.

Both Trump and his wife Melania stepped on the carpet where the Pope's casket was placed. As no other leader did this as a sign of respect, the couple's action was met with backlash.

One user commented, "Why did Trump stand on the edge of the carpet while paying his respects to the Pope's casket? All other dignitaries stood about a meter away from the edge."

Some users also stated that they had been warned not to step on the carpet but did not follow this rule. Reactions such as "What an arrogant man, who does he think he is?" were raised.

Regarding his choice of clothing, one X user wrote:

"How disrespectful, Trump is wearing a blue suit at the Pope's funeral and it doesn't fit in at all."

The comment "The disrespectful guy didn't even bother to bow his head" was also made.
