What happened in the flood disaster in Bosnia? The country is trying to heal its wounds

Bosnia and Herzegovina is trying to heal the wounds of the flood disaster caused by heavy rainfall.

Following the disaster that occurred in the city of Jablanica, updates have been provided regarding the missing persons and material damage.

The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton stated that the death toll in Jablanica has been revised from the initially reported 16 to 13.

It was noted that some bodies were accidentally counted more than once, and at least 10 people are still missing in the region.

It was reported that 3 people also lost their lives in the city of Fojnica.

With the receding of the waters, the extent of the material damage in the region has also begun to become clear.

Mladen Kulic, from the search and rescue team in Jablanica, stated that they are continuing their efforts to find the missing persons.

Recalling their previous participation in search and rescue efforts following the earthquake in Turkey, Kulic emphasized that this disaster has caused similar destruction.

The imam of the submerged mosque, Semir Jahic, stated that the floodwaters left only the minaret visible, and reported that he and his wife rescued 7 people.

Stating that he lost many friends from his community, Jahic expressed that the gravity of the incident began to be better understood as the waters receded.

The Turkish Red Crescent's Bosnia and Herzegovina Delegation continues to deliver aid to those affected by the floods, while many institutions have also launched support campaigns.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has entered a reconstruction process following the disaster.
