Gaza decision from the US State Department: 'House members even want to ban the mention of the Palestinian death toll'

A bill regarding the non-sharing of the number of Palestinians who have lost their lives and been injured due to Israel's attacks was presented to the vote of the members of the US House of Representatives.

The bill, which aims to prevent the US State Department from sharing data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, was passed with 269 "yes" votes against 144 "no" votes.

For the bill to become law, it must also pass the vote in the Senate.

"DENIAL OF GENOCIDE"

Rashida Tlaib, the only Palestinian-American member of the US Congress, described the support for the bill as "disgusting" in her speech at the House of Representatives.

"This is a denial of genocide. House members even want to ban the mention of the Palestinian death toll," said Tlaib, who then read out the number of those who have lost their lives and been injured in Gaza in the House.

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, launched a comprehensive attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, citing the "continuous violations against Palestinians and sacred values, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque" as the reason. Israel announced that 1,200 Israelis were killed and 5,132 people were injured in the October 7 attacks.

In the attacks Israel has carried out on the Gaza Strip since October 7, at least 37,765 Palestinians, including 15,694 children and 10,279 women, have been killed, and 86,429 people have been injured.

While it is reported that there are still thousands of dead under the rubble, civilian infrastructure is also being destroyed by targeting hospitals and educational institutions where the public has taken shelter.
