Georgia Secretary of State Raffensperger addresses bomb threats

A statement has been issued regarding hoax bomb threats made in Fulton County, Georgia. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said, "We have heard some threats of Russian origin. We always check these for public safety, and we will continue to act responsibly when we hear such things."

Regarding Russia, Raffensperger stated, "It seems they are up to mischief and do not want us to have a smooth, fair, and accurate election. They may consider anything that can make us fight among ourselves a victory."

Raffensperger did not provide detailed information on how state officials determined that the bomb threats originated from Russia.

"PROTECTING OUR COMMUNITY IS OUR HIGHEST PRIORITY"

The FBI's statement did not address the source of the threat. The statement said, "The FBI is aware of several bomb threats made around the state of Georgia. Election integrity and the protection of our community are our highest priorities. The FBI is working closely with state and local law enforcement partners to respond to election threats and protect our communities as Americans exercise their right to vote."
