Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili announced that they would not recognize the parliamentary election held yesterday, which the ruling party won with 54.08 percent of the vote, calling the process 'pro-Russian'.

Zurabishvili made a statement to journalists at the Presidential Palace in the capital, Tbilisi.

According to AA, Zurabishvili, who was backed by the leaders of the opposition election blocs "Unity for Saving Georgia," "Coalition for Change," and "Strong Georgia" that passed the 5 percent threshold, evaluated the parliamentary elections held in her country yesterday.

Stating that they do not accept the results showing that the ruling Georgian Dream party won the election and arguing that fraud took place, Zurabishvili said, "These elections were completely falsified."

'RUSSIAN SPECIAL OPERATION'

Arguing that the public's votes were "stolen" in the elections, Zurabishvili said, "We have been victims of what can be described as a Russian special operation. A new type of hybrid warfare has been applied to our people and our country."

Emphasizing that Georgia is a country with a future in Europe and that they will not give up on this, President Zurabishvili stated, "This election cannot be recognized because this is the recognition of Russia's entry here, of Georgia's subordination to Russia."

CALLS ON THE PUBLIC TO TAKE TO THE STREETS

Salome Zurabishvili invited the opposition parties that do not recognize the election results and the public to gather in front of the Parliament Building in Tbilisi tomorrow evening.

Calling on Western states to support her country and its people, Zurabishvili stated that protecting Georgia means protecting the geopolitical balance.

The ruling Georgian Dream party won the parliamentary elections held in Georgia yesterday with 53.93 percent of the vote.

The "Coalition for Change" came in second with 11.03 percent of the vote, "Unity for Saving Georgia" third with 10.16 percent, "Strong Georgia" fourth with 8.81 percent, and "Gakharia for Georgia" fifth with 7.77 percent.

The opposition had announced that they would not recognize the election results.
