Germany to join airdrop aid operation in Gaza

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated in a written statement that he has instructed the Air Force to deliver aid to Gaza by air.

Emphasizing that the people in Gaza are deprived of the most basic necessities, Pistorius said:

"We want to do our part to ensure their access to food and medicine. To this end, the German Armed Forces are providing two Hercules transport aircraft, each capable of carrying up to 18 tons of cargo. The reality is that the airdrop operation is not without danger. The teams assigned to this task are trained in the relevant procedures and are extremely experienced."

It was noted that the mission to deliver aid to Gaza by air will be carried out by the air transport squadron based in Evreux, France, which is equipped with C-130J Hercules transport aircraft.

It was reported that the air aid operation could begin next weekend.
