Germany to monitor the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire plan

Following the official implementation of the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas, foreign troops are beginning to be deployed to the region to monitor the ceasefire and support stability as part of a 20-point plan.

In a statement from the German Ministry of Defense, it was reported that in this context, a brigadier general and two staff officers from the German Armed Forces will begin their duties next week at the US-led Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC).

The German officers in question will be deployed to the CMCC stationed in southern Israel in uniform but unarmed.

US GENERAL TO LEAD

It was stated that the CMCC, which will be responsible for monitoring the ceasefire and coordinating humanitarian aid, will also coordinate the integration, training, and logistical support of the international peacekeeping force in Gaza. The CMCC, where approximately 200 soldiers will serve, will be commanded by a US general. The statement also noted that the deployment of German soldiers does not require authorization from the German parliament, as they are not expected to participate in an armed operation.
