The German Ministry of Defense has announced that it will send a new Patriot air defense system to Ukraine as part of a military aid package.
The German government will supply a new Patriot air defense system to Ukraine as part of a military aid package.
In a written statement issued by the German Ministry of Defense, it was reported that, due to the increase in Russian air strikes and at the request of the Ukrainian government, and in coordination with its allies, an additional Patriot air defense system will be transferred to the country, in addition to those already delivered or planned.
Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated the following regarding the matter:
"Russian terror against Ukrainian cities and the country's infrastructure is causing unspeakable suffering. It endangers people's energy supplies and destroys industrial facilities that are important for the operational readiness of the Ukrainian armed forces. For this reason, we are supporting Ukraine with another Patriot air defense system. Before making this decision, I had committed to procuring a new one for our country as soon as possible, and we are working intensively to achieve this."
The German Ministry of Defense had previously delivered various military equipment, as well as two Patriot air defense systems, fire units, and two Patriot launchers to Ukraine as part of military aid packages.
