Google blocks ad revenue for Russia-based publishers

In a statement from Google, it was noted, "Due to ongoing developments in Russia, we are suspending the ability for Russia-based publishers to monetize through AdSense, AdMob, and Ad Manager."

Reports in the US press, citing statements from a company spokesperson, also indicated that payments will no longer be made to Russia-based AdSense accounts and that these accounts will be deactivated as of August 2024.

The reports noted that publishers' earnings in the country for July will be distributed around August 21-26.

In February 2022, due to the war in Ukraine, Google suspended the ability of Russian state media to publish ads and earn money, and since March 2022, it had stopped serving ads to users located in Russia.

The company had also suspended the opening of new AdSense accounts in Russia, but existing publishers had continued to earn limited ad revenue.

AdSense allows publishers to earn money from their online content through advertisements.
