Greece approves F-35 purchase
The Greek Parliament's Armaments Committee has approved the proposal for the purchase of 20 F-35 fighter jets and the evaluation of participation in the Constellation-class frigate construction program.
According to reports from Greece's state agency AMNA, Defense Minister Nikos Dendias presented proposals to the Parliamentary Armaments Committee regarding the purchase of 20 F-35s and the evaluation of participation in the program for the construction of Constellation-class frigates.
Minister Dendias argued that the F-35 military aircraft would increase the country's deterrent power.
Dendias claimed that if a decision is made to participate in the program for building the Constellation-class frigate in Greece, this frigate would also be a significant asset for the Hellenic Navy.
Dendias' proposal regarding the F-35s and the Constellation-class frigates was accepted by a majority vote in the Committee.
