Message on 'negotiations' from Greek Cypriot leader Christodoulides: Will talks resume?
Greek Cypriot leader Christodoulides met with Mitsotakis. The Greek Cypriot leader signaled that they will take 'action' for the resumption of negotiations.
Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA) leader Nikos Christodoulides met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the capital, Athens.
During his meeting with Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis in Athens, GCA leader Christodoulides stated that they would meet once more with Mitsotakis within the framework of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly meetings to be held in New York next week.
Christodoulides said, 'We will continue to move forward not only with words but also with actions toward creating the conditions for the start of negotiations (aimed at resolving the Cyprus issue).'
Noting his belief that current conditions do not allow for a resolution to the Cyprus issue, Christodoulides argued that a resolution to the Cyprus issue and the normalization of Turkish-Greek relations would demonstrate that Greece and the GCA are centers of stability and security in the region.
Mitsotakis, pointing to the UN General Assembly meeting to be held next week, stated that Greece and the GCA are coordinating their actions regarding the Cyprus issue.
