Greta Thunberg: I could talk about Israel's abuses, but that is not the point

Activists, including Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg, who were detained on the Global Sumud Flotilla after being attacked by the Israeli military while attempting to break the illegal blockade on the Gaza Strip and deliver humanitarian aid, have arrived in Greece.

In a statement made there, Thunberg drew attention to the fact that a genocide is being committed in Gaza in front of everyone's eyes, and stated that the international community and governments have not taken the slightest step to prevent the war crimes committed by Israel.

Stating that the Global Sumud Flotilla is a story of universal solidarity, Thunberg said, "When governments failed, the people stepped in. The leaders who supposedly represent me continue to fuel genocide, death, and destruction. They do not represent me."

Giving the message, "We must not take our eyes off Gaza," Thunberg said, "Believe me, I could talk about the mistreatment and abuses Israel committed in prison, but that is not the point. The point is the deliberate genocide Israel is continuing in Gaza. They are trying to destroy a nation right before our eyes."
