Hamas: Blinken's attempt to exonerate Israel is complicity in genocide
Hamas stated that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's attempt to exonerate Israel for obstructing a ceasefire agreement in Gaza is a continuation of his country's policy of complicity in the "genocide" being committed in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, Hamas said, "Blinken's attempt to exonerate Israel and his stance of holding Hamas responsible for preventing an agreement is a continuation of his country's policy of complicity in the war of genocide."
The statement noted that Hamas has "approached the presented proposal, as well as all proposals for reaching a ceasefire agreement and the release of prisoners, positively and with national responsibility."
The statement, which noted that "the world has not heard any expression of satisfaction from Netanyahu and his government regarding the UN Security Council resolution," emphasized that "Israel continues to reject any permanent ceasefire in Gaza, in clear contradiction to the proposal by US President Joe Biden."
Biden announced at a press conference at the White House on May 31 that Israel had put forward a new proposal regarding a ceasefire and prisoners in Gaza.
The Hamas leadership had reported that it had conveyed its response regarding the ceasefire proposal for the Gaza Strip, which was announced by Biden, to Egypt and Qatar.
In its response to the ceasefire plan, Hamas stated that it prioritized ending Israel's attacks and occupation of Gaza and that it had "shown a positive approach to an agreement that would end the war."
In the attacks carried out by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 37 thousand 202 Palestinians have been killed, including at least 15 thousand 517 children and 10 thousand 279 women, and 84 thousand 932 people have been injured.
While it is reported that there are still thousands of dead under the rubble, civilian infrastructure is also being destroyed by targeting hospitals and educational institutions where the public has taken shelter.
