Hamas delays handover of hostage body due to Israel's ceasefire violations
The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has delayed the handover of the body of an Israeli hostage, which it had previously announced would be delivered, citing Israel's violations of the ceasefire.
Following a security meeting held by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he ordered immediate, powerful attacks on the Gaza Strip where the ceasefire was ongoing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, delayed the handover of the hostage's body due to Israel's ceasefire violations.
The Qassam Brigades announced that they had delayed the handover of the body of the Israeli hostage, which they had previously stated would be delivered in the evening, and warned that any Israeli attack would disrupt efforts to search for bodies.
The Qassam Brigades also reported that the body of another hostage had been found in Khan Yunis.
THE LAST HOSTAGE BODY TURNED OUT TO BELONG TO A PREVIOUSLY FOUND HOSTAGE
Israel reported that the body handed over by Hamas yesterday belonged to Israeli hostage Ofir Tzarfati, whose lifeless body was found by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip in December 2023. Israel claimed that Hamas was stalling regarding the return of hostage bodies.
On the other hand, Hamas has delivered 16 hostage bodies to Israel so far following the ceasefire agreement.
