Hamas delivers ceasefire response to Egypt and Qatar

As Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip continue for the 249th day, Hamas has delivered its response to Egypt and Qatar regarding the Israeli ceasefire proposal for the Gaza Strip, which was announced by US President Joe Biden.

Stating that they view the ceasefire agreement in Gaza positively and are ready for it, Hamas said, "The response prioritizes the interests of our Palestinian people and the necessity of a complete cessation of the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip."

Qatar and Egypt confirmed that they had received Hamas's response to the ceasefire proposal, stating, "The two countries confirm that joint mediation efforts with the US will continue until an agreement is reached, and that the mediators will review the response and coordinate with the relevant parties regarding the next steps."

THREE-PHASE PLAN

The first phase of the three-phase ceasefire plan announced by US President Biden at the end of last month includes a six-week ceasefire alongside the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from populated areas of Gaza, and the return of Palestinian civilians to their homes. The first phase also provides for the safe entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

The second phase of the proposal includes the release of the remaining hostages in Gaza through an agreement aimed at a permanent end to hostilities between Israel and Hamas, and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

The third phase involves a reconstruction plan for Gaza and the return of the remains of deceased hostages to their families.
