Hamas issues statement on 'full and permanent' ceasefire

Hamas issues statement on 'full and permanent' ceasefire

Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip have been ongoing for 243 days.

Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh announced in a statement that they would respond "seriously and positively" to any ceasefire proposal based on a complete cessation of the war, a full withdrawal of Israel from the Gaza Strip, and an exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners.

Haniyeh stated that Hamas has begun negotiations "guided by this stance, which reflects the will of the people and their valiant resistance."

HAMAS DELEGATION IN DOHA

A Hamas delegation met with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and Egyptian Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The meeting addressed Israel's latest hostage deal proposal. Al-Thani and Kamel had previously discussed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas with US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director William Burns, who was also in Doha.
