Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya thanks Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt for mediation
Khalil al-Hayya thanked the mediators working to stop the bloodshed in Gaza and called for pressure to be exerted on Israel.
In his first statement since taking office, Hamas's new leader, Khalil al-Hayya, made assessments regarding the ceasefire process in the Gaza Strip.
Thanking the mediating countries, including Turkey, al-Hayya said, "We thank the mediators in Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey who are making every effort to stop the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip." he stated.
The Hamas leader also issued a call to the countries supporting the negotiation process. Al-Hayya stated that "real pressure" must be exerted on Israel to implement the points that have been agreed upon.
Stating that stability in the Middle East is directly linked to the stability of the Palestinian people, al-Hayya argued that developments in the region demonstrate this. Addressing the international community, al-Hayya said, "If you cannot protect the people of Gaza, the concept of justice will collapse entirely."
