ISRAELI HOSTAGES
Hamas's military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, citing "continuous violations against Palestinians and sacred values, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque," and many Israelis were taken hostage.
During the "humanitarian pause" in the Gaza conflict, which began on November 24, 2023, for 4 days and was later extended for 3 days, 81 Israeli and 240 Palestinian prisoners were released in a mutual exchange.
According to the Israeli army, there are currently 136 Israeli hostages still in the Gaza Strip.
