Hamas: Trump's statements are surprising
Hamas official Taher al-Nunu, regarding US President Donald Trump's statement yesterday that "Hamas did not really want to make a deal," said, "Trump's statements are very surprising, as they come at a time when progress was being made on some negotiation files."
Hamas official Taher al-Nunu and Hamas Political Bureau member Izzat al-Rishq spoke regarding US President Donald Trump's statement yesterday that "Hamas did not really want to make a deal."
Speaking to the French media, al-Nunu said, "Trump's statements are very surprising, as they come at a time when progress was being made on some negotiation files. So far, we have not been informed of any problems regarding the files discussed in the indirect ceasefire negotiations."
Al-Nunu, who is close to Hamas's top political leadership, said he was "surprised" that Israel and the US withdrew mediators and negotiators from the talks in Doha.
Taher al-Nunu called on the US to be more neutral in its role as a mediator, stating, "We demand an end to the US bias in favor of Netanyahu, who is blocking the agreements."
Hamas Political Bureau member Izzat al-Rishq, in his statement, argued that they had shown "flexibility" in the negotiations. Al-Rishq said, "US statements deliberately ignore the Netanyahu government, which is the main obstacle to all agreements. This government constantly creates obstacles, deceives, and evades commitments."
