Hand grenade attack on Norwegian ambassador's residence in Tel Aviv

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated in a post on social media that he held a phone conversation with Norway's Ambassador to Tel Aviv, Per Egil Selvaag. Saar stated that a hand grenade was thrown into the garden of the ambassador's residence and that he strongly condemned the attack.

Minister Saar expressed his belief that the Israeli police would apprehend the perpetrators of the attack as soon as possible and bring them to justice.

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a written statement, reported that no embassy staff were harmed during the attack.

Last year, the Norwegian government decided to recognize the state of Palestine. Following this development, Israel revoked the diplomatic status of Norwegian diplomats responsible for Palestinian affairs. The attack drew attention as it occurred following this period of tension in diplomatic relations between the two countries.
