He faked his own death to avoid child support: Sentenced to 7 years in prison for fraud

In the US, a man who "hacked" the death registration system to fake his own death with a forged document to avoid paying child support for his child has been sentenced to approximately 7 years in prison.

According to a written statement from the Kentucky Attorney General's Office, Jesse Kipf "hacked" the death registration system and stole the username and password of a doctor in another state.

Using the doctor's credentials, Kipf logged into the death registration system in Hawaii, prepared a "death certificate" for himself, and signed it with the digital signature of the doctor whose information he had stolen.

ESCAPED CHILD SUPPORT, CAUGHT WITH PRISON SENTENCE

Admitting that he had listed himself as a "deceased person" in many government databases, Kipf stated that he did this, "in part, to avoid child support obligations."

Kipf, who also "hacked" death registration systems in different states as well as private business and public networks, also attempted to sell access credentials for these networks to others.

Kipf, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to approximately 7 years in prison for "fraud and aggravated identity theft."
