The Ghana Police Service has announced that Evans Eshun, who made headlines with his flood prophecy on social media, has been detained. Eshun, known by the name "Ebo Noah," had drawn attention with his posts ahead of religious events held on the night of December 31. The police stated that Eshun was taken into custody by the cyber unit that monitors online activities.

DETENTION BY THE CYBER UNIT

In a written statement issued by the Ghana Police Service, it was stated that Evans Eshun was detained on January 1 by a special cyber investigation team reporting to the Inspector General of Police. The statement noted that the detention was carried out to monitor online content, particularly ahead of the religious events held on December 31, and to prevent posts that could disrupt public order.

"FLOOD PROPHECY" POST CREATED CONTROVERSY

Evans Eshun, known as Ebo Noah, had claimed in his social media posts that he received a message in a dream that a great flood would occur on December 25. These posts caused widespread repercussions in the country and led to warnings from security units. Security forces had taken action on the grounds that Eshun's "flood" claims could cause fear and panic among the public.

It was stated that no formal charges have been brought against Eshun, who is currently in custody. The Ghanaian police announced that Eshun is being held to assist with the investigation and that no court date or bail conditions have been announced regarding him.
