Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Eslami makes statement on 'uranium levels'

Mohammad Eslami, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, evaluated the latest developments regarding cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Stating that the IAEA has an unfulfilled responsibility regarding military attacks on nuclear facilities under its supervision, Eslami said, "This responsibility is to take a stance on military attacks against nuclear facilities under Agency supervision. If we are under IAEA supervision, have received approval from the Agency, and this inspection process is part of the Agency's credibility, the Agency cannot remain silent in the face of this attack on nuclear facilities. It cannot wait without taking a position, nor can it display a political and unprofessional attitude."

"Our cooperation with the Agency continues"

Eslami stated, "We have maintained regular contact with the Agency at centers that were not attacked. With the permission of the Supreme National Security Council, Agency inspectors arrived for inspections, and these centers have been inspected and monitored to date following the war. The remaining few inspections will also be carried out in the coming days. Therefore, our cooperation within the framework of safeguards inspections continues."

"The right to peaceful nuclear technology cannot be violated"

In his assessment of the negotiations, Eslami stated that the main issue is the rights of the Iranian people, adding, "According to its own laws and statutes, the IAEA is obligated to promote, support, and facilitate peaceful nuclear technology. All countries should benefit from this technology. This right cannot be violated, and no country can be deprived of it. This is not possible through bullying. This is a clear legal right. We are acting in line with our national goals, development program, and the needs of society. You cannot shut down nuclear processes and capacity created for programs serving the public. You cannot repeat history with promises and future-oriented pledges."

"The Agency is silent on the inspection procedure for damaged facilities"

Eslami said that the Agency has remained silent and has not taken any steps regarding the procedure for inspecting nuclear facilities damaged during the 12-day war, stating, "We have repeatedly brought this issue to the agenda and conveyed it to the IAEA. We also submitted a draft at this year's conference and requested that the prohibition of attacks on nuclear facilities under safeguards inspection be put on the agenda. However, the Americans officially wrote a letter and blocked it. Look at the situation we are facing."

"Exporting uranium abroad is not on the agenda"

Addressing claims that enriched uranium would be sent abroad, Eslami said, "This issue is kept on the agenda by elements of pressure against the country and various circles. Such a matter has never been on our agenda. If it was mentioned somewhere, it was likely put forward as a suggestion. However, this issue was not discussed in the negotiations."

"Reducing uranium depends on the lifting of sanctions"

Touching upon the possibility of reducing the 60 percent enriched uranium level in the ongoing negotiations with the US, Eslami said, "Reducing the uranium level depends on whether the other side lifts all sanctions."
