In the city of Recife, located in the northeastern Brazilian state of Pernambuco, 7 people have lost their lives due to floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall. A statement from the city's Civil Defense unit reported that floods and landslides occurred as a result of the heavy rains.

The National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) and the Pernambuco Water and Climate Agency (APAC) stated that the rainfall is expected to continue heavily for some time, emphasizing that the public should remain cautious.

According to a report on CNN Brazil, Recife Mayor Joao Campos announced that education has been suspended in schools across various parts of the city and that 90 families have been evacuated from high-risk areas.

The statement noted that search and rescue operations are ongoing in Recife, and according to initial assessments, 7 people have lost their lives. Explaining that they are struggling with the heaviest rainfall of February, Campos stated that they have moved to a state of alert due to the precipitation.
