WHO IS IBRAHIM AQIL?

It is stated that Ibrahim Aqil, codenamed "Tahsin," who was targeted by Israel in the Dahiyeh neighborhood of Beirut, was the number two figure in Hezbollah's military wing.

According to local sources, Aqil, also known as Tahsin, was a member of the Jihad Council, Hezbollah's highest military body.

Aqil was known as the commander of Hezbollah's special operations system and its elite Radwan Force, and it is noted that he prioritized secrecy, preferring to work behind the scenes without attracting media attention.

In April 2023, the US Department of State announced a reward of up to 7 million dollars for information leading to Aqil, who was alleged to be one of the key figures behind the 1983 bombing of the US Embassy in Beirut.

Aqil was also known as one of the figures behind many major military operations carried out by Hezbollah against the Israeli army, including the wars that contributed to Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000.

It is estimated that he played a significant role in overseeing the development of the missile systems and military equipment that turned Hezbollah into a major military power in Lebanon.
