Hezbollah: Ceasefire must not grant freedom of movement to Israeli forces

Hezbollah has released a statement regarding the ceasefire decision announced by US President Donald Trump between Israel and Lebanon.

The statement noted that the ceasefire to take effect with Israel must comprehensively end Israel's attacks on all regions across Lebanon and should not grant freedom of movement to Israeli forces. The statement included the phrase, "Israel's continued occupation of Lebanese territory gives Lebanon and its people the right to resist."

"A return to the situation before March 2 must be ensured"

The statement also demanded a return to the situation prior to March 2, the date when Israel intensified its airstrikes on Lebanon and subsequently launched ground attacks. In this context, it was emphasized that Israeli soldiers occupying southern Lebanon must withdraw from the regions in question.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri called on Lebanese citizens displaced by Israeli attacks to postpone their plans to return to their cities and villages until the ceasefire situation becomes clear.

Trump had announced the ceasefire decision

In his statement regarding Israel-Lebanon contacts, Trump reported that he had held talks with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump noted that both leaders had reached an agreement on a 10-day ceasefire that would take effect tonight at 00:00 TRT.
