Hezbollah confirms death of high-ranking commander: Targeted in Israeli airstrike

Hezbollah has confirmed that Nabil Qaouk, commander of the Preventive Security Unit and a member of the Central Council, lost his life in an Israeli airstrike on the Dahiyeh district of the capital, Beirut.

In a written statement, Hezbollah referred to the airstrike carried out by the Israeli military yesterday on the Shia-majority Chiyah neighborhood in Beirut.

The statement confirmed that Hezbollah official Qaouk died in the aforementioned attack and noted the various roles he had held within the organization.

The Israeli military had previously claimed that Qaouk was killed in the airstrike conducted yesterday in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut.

Nabil Qaouk was born in 1964 in the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon.

Having received religious education in Qom, Iran, between 1982 and 1992, Qaouk had previously served for a time as Hezbollah's commander for the southern region.

It is stated that Qaouk was serving as the commander of Hezbollah's Preventive Security Unit.

ISRAEL'S ATTACKS CONTINUE

Meanwhile, the Israeli military has carried out a new airstrike on the Dahiyeh district, which is described as a Hezbollah stronghold in Beirut.

The official Lebanese news agency NNA reported that the Tahwitat al-Ghadir area in Beirut's Dahiyeh district was subjected to an Israeli airstrike.

The sound of Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles, which are constantly flying over the skies of Beirut, is echoing throughout the city.
