Hezbollah signals ceasefire with Israel

A ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon is expected following the first high-level direct talks between the two countries since 1993, held yesterday under U.S. mediation.

Hezbollah spokesperson Ibrahim Mousawi stated that the efforts of Iran and regional countries could lead to a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon "soon."

Two unnamed senior Lebanese officials confirmed that efforts for a ceasefire in Lebanon are ongoing, but refrained from providing detailed information regarding when the ceasefire would begin or how long it would last.

Another unnamed Lebanese source said there were positive signals regarding Lebanon's request for a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, but that Beirut had not yet received any feedback on the matter.

Israeli Security Cabinet to meet

The Israeli Security Cabinet will meet at 8:00 PM local time under the leadership of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. An unnamed senior Israeli official announced that the cabinet would discuss the issue of a ceasefire in Lebanon.
