High-level dismissal at the White House

It has been reported that U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz will step down from his position following criticism after he "accidentally" added an American journalist to a Signal group where Yemen war plans were being shared.

According to reports in the U.S. media citing unnamed White House sources, Waltz is leaving his post.

First reported by CBS News, National Security Advisor Waltz and his deputy, Alex Wong, are stepping down from their positions.

There has been no official statement from the White House regarding the matter yet.

Waltz had "accidentally" added American journalist Jeffrey Goldberg to a Signal group where Yemen war plans were shared, becoming the focus of criticism after the incident came to light.

U.S. President Donald Trump had stated that Waltz "made a mistake," that "the incident should not be blown out of proportion," and that he was "satisfied with his advisor."
