Holiday opportunity in Turkey for Russians: Both cheaper and more expensive

With September, the period known by Russians as the "velvet season" (barhatnıy sezon)—when the weather is relatively less hot and the crowds are thinner in seaside destinations—has begun. 

According to Russian sources, vacationing in Turkey this autumn will be 10% to 35% cheaper for Russian tourists compared to the summer season. It is noted that these discounts are most observed in five-star and luxury hotels. On the other hand, there is a noticeable price increase in Turkey holiday packages compared to the same period last year. In other words, a holiday will be cheaper than in summer, but more expensive than last autumn.

Artur Muradyan, Vice President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), stated that this drop in prices offers attractive opportunities, especially for tourists planning to vacation in the autumn months.

60 PERCENT OF SALES TO RUSSIANS

According to ATOR data, demand for tours abroad in the first half of autumn has increased by 35% compared to last year.

While Turkey continues to be the most popular destination among Russian tourists, it accounts for 60% of sales.

According to the report in Türkrus, Turkey is followed by Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thailand, and Abkhazia. Thailand and Egypt, in particular, have recorded significant increases in tourism volume with the expansion of flight schedules.

Looking at autumn package tour prices, it was observed that average package tour prices in Turkey and Egypt have increased by 11-14% compared to the same period last year.

The average price for an eight-night all-inclusive holiday in Turkey was set at 230 thousand rubles, while it was 208 thousand rubles in Egypt. The cost of a seven-night holiday in the United Arab Emirates is 224 thousand rubles, while an 11-night holiday in Thailand is priced at an average of 210 thousand rubles.
