A murder was committed during a live broadcast on social media in the Philippines. Radio host Juan Jumalon, known as DJ Johnny Walker, was shot and killed by an attacker who entered the studio while he was broadcasting live.
Reports in the local press, citing police sources, stated that the attacker asked for permission to enter the studio where Jumalon was broadcasting in order to "announce something important on air."
The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines announced that the attack took place at Jumalon's home, which he also used as a radio station.
PRESIDENT ISSUES STATEMENT
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos condemned the killing of Jumalon and stated that he had ordered a "thorough investigation to ensure the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice."
WAS HE BEING THREATENED?
In a statement made by the police, it was noted that no reports had been filed previously regarding any threats against Jumalon's life.
