Hostage exchange and ceasefire negotiations in Doha reported to be going well
It has been reported that the negotiations held today in Doha, the capital of Qatar, regarding a hostage exchange between Israel and Hamas and reaching a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, are going well. An unnamed official provided assessments to the Haaretz newspaper regarding the talks in Doha.
The official, who is said to be involved in the negotiations in Doha, stated that the talks are going well.
Noting that the negotiations will continue today, the official expressed hope that progress would be made in the talks within 48 hours.
Meanwhile, the Israeli press wrote that the Israeli negotiating team remained in Doha to continue the talks today.
Negotiations between Israel and Hamas aimed at a hostage exchange and a ceasefire in Gaza had begun in Doha.
The negotiations were attended by officials led by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director Bill Burns, Egyptian Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel, and Mossad Director David Barnea.
Hamas, which had announced it would not participate in the negotiations, stated that it had requested the mediators to present a plan to implement the points agreed upon on July 2 (based on the vision of US President Joe Biden and the UN Security Council resolution) and to obtain a clear commitment from Israel to adhere to this plan.
