Hostage exchange negotiations begin: Israeli delegation to head to Paris
It has been reported that the Israeli administration will send a delegation to the indirect negotiations planned for tomorrow in Paris, the capital of France, for a new hostage exchange between Tel Aviv and Hamas.
According to reports in the local press, the War Cabinet has agreed to send a delegation to the negotiations in Paris. No statement has yet been made by Israeli authorities regarding the matter.
ISRAELI OFFICIALS WILL ALSO PARTICIPATE
In addition to the US, Egypt, and Qatar, Israeli officials are expected to participate in the negotiations to be held in Paris.
The US-based news site "Axios" reported that Brett McGurk, the White House Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, had requested the Tel Aviv administration to send a delegation to the Paris negotiations during his visit to Israel today.
A meeting was held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, on February 13 as part of a new hostage exchange agreement between the Tel Aviv administration and Hamas.
No results were achieved from the meeting, which was attended by officials from Israel, the US, Qatar, and Egypt.
Following that meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had refused to send a delegation to the hostage exchange talks in Cairo, which were to be attended by low-level officials, arguing that "Hamas had not made a new proposal."
It is stated that there are more than 130 Israeli hostages in the hands of Hamas.
