Houthis announce they have struck a British oil tanker

The Houthis in Yemen have announced that they targeted a "British-owned oil tanker" in the Gulf of Aden.

Houthi Military Spokesperson Yahya Saree provided information regarding the attack carried out by Houthi forces in the Gulf of Aden, south of Yemen, in a statement on the X social media platform.

'FIRE BROKE OUT ON THE SHIP'

As reported by AA, Saree stated that the "British-owned" oil tanker "Marlin Luanda" was targeted, noting that the tanker was struck by anti-ship missiles and that a fire broke out on the hit vessel.

Saree stated, "The attack was carried out in retaliation for the oppression of the Palestinian people, in support and solidarity with our brothers in the Gaza Strip, and in response to the attacks by the US and the UK against our country."

Expressing that the Houthis are "imposing an embargo" on Israeli maritime routes in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, Saree emphasized that they will continue their "military operations" until a ceasefire is declared for Gaza and the entry of medicine and food for Palestinians is permitted.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) issued a warning that a ship had been struck and caught fire off the coast of Yemen, though the name of the ship was not specified.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that an anti-ship missile was fired by Houthi militants at the warship USS Carney, but the missile was neutralized by the USS Carney.
