How did Hezbollah bypass Israel's Iron Dome? Preliminary investigation report released
It has been stated that the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) sent by Hezbollah, which caused the deaths of 4 soldiers, misled the Israeli military because it "flew at a low altitude, making it impossible to track, and was assumed to have self-destructed."
A report by Israel's Army Radio included the preliminary findings of the investigation conducted by the Israeli Air Force into the attack.
It was noted that Hezbollah used 3 UAVs, 3 guided missiles, and rockets simultaneously in the attack on Haifa.
It was reported that the Israeli Navy and the Iron Dome defense system intercepted 2 of the UAVs, while contact with the third UAV was lost northeast of the city of Acre.
The report stated, "Due to it flying at a low altitude or potential interference by the Air Force with the GPS system, the Air Force assumed the UAV had self-destructed."
It was noted that the UAV "could have been classified as an aerial threat, but this did not occur."
It was argued that while the Israeli Air Force received reports from the public about a suspicious aircraft in the Yokneam region southeast of Haifa, it was assumed that the reported aircraft was an Israeli helicopter, as a helicopter was also flying in the same area at that time.
It was stated that the Israeli Air Force will not assume that UAVs have self-destructed unless there is evidence, and in this context, warning sirens may be activated widely across many regions of Israel in the coming days, some of which may turn out to be false alarms.
It was stated that a "protective status" is activated "even if the connection with UAVs is lost for half an hour and their location is unknown."
It was reported that the UAV sent by Hezbollah was a "Shahed 107" type, carried a warhead weighing between 3 and 5 kilograms, and operated via a GPS system.
It was noted that the UAV was not remotely controlled, and its location and route information were pre-determined.
It was stated that it is assessed that Hezbollah "carefully targeted the military base's dining hall while the Israeli soldiers were eating."
4 ISRAELI SOLDIERS DIED IN HEZBOLLAH'S ATTACK
The Israeli military announced yesterday that 4 soldiers were killed and 58 others, 7 of them seriously, were wounded in a drone (UAV) attack carried out by Hezbollah on the Golani military base south of the city of Haifa.
In a statement from Hezbollah, it was expressed that the attack on the "Golani Brigade's training base belonging to the Israeli army" in the Binyamina region south of Haifa was carried out "with a fleet of UAVs" in solidarity with the resistance of the Palestinian people in Gaza, to defend Lebanon and its people, and in response to the attacks on the Basta and Nuwayri neighborhoods in Beirut.
