Hungarian PM Orban: The two most dangerous months of the war are ahead of us
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has convened the National Security Council due to the risk of the war in Ukraine escalating. Orban stated, "The two most dangerous months of the war are ahead of us."
Hungarian Prime Minister Orban has convened the National Security Council due to the latest developments in the war in Ukraine and the risk of the conflict escalating. In a statement posted on social media regarding the meeting, which was attended by relevant ministers, the Prime Minister's National Security Advisor, and the Commander of the Hungarian Armed Forces, Orban said, "We are closely following the news from the front in the Russia-Ukraine War.
This morning, I convened the Security Council. The risk of the war escalating has never been higher. Hungary continues to firmly support ceasefire and peace negotiations," he said.
"PEACE OR AT LEAST A CEASEFIRE IS POSSIBLE WITH TRUMP'S VICTORY"
In a video statement released after the meeting, Orban said, "Today is Wednesday, and there is worrying news from Ukraine. That is why I convened the Security Council. The two most dangerous months of the war are ahead of us. With President Donald Trump's victory, peace or at least a ceasefire is possible. However, the pro-war government will remain in office in the US for two more months," he said.
"HUNGARY MUST STAY OUT OF IT"
Touching upon Russian President Vladimir Putin's update to Russia's nuclear doctrine, Orban said, "Ukraine fired long-range missiles into Russian territory yesterday, and the Russians have made their nuclear doctrine stricter. I received a report on this matter at the National Security Council. In the coming weeks, the risk of the war escalating and spreading is higher than ever before. In the coming months, all of Hungary's knowledge, resources, and diplomatic experience will be needed to avoid this war. Because Hungary must stay out of this war," he said.
Tensions in the war in Ukraine have escalated over the last few days following the US administration under President Joe Biden's approval for Ukraine to use US-made long-range missiles to strike targets within Russian territory, and Russia's subsequent update to its nuclear doctrine in response.
