The acceptance rate for asylum applications from Turkish citizens who enter Germany through illegal means is quite low.

Since Germany classifies Turkey as a 'safe country,' it generally rejects asylum requests from Turkish citizens. However, migrants try to avoid deportation by using legal loopholes.

LEGAL MIGRATION HAS INCREASED

There is a significant wave of migration from Turkey to Germany not only through illegal means but also through legal channels. In the last two years, 132 thousand Turkish citizens have migrated to Germany for work or education purposes.

While the number of Turks settling in Germany as highly skilled labor and students continues to increase, migration movements to other destinations such as European Union countries, the USA, and Canada have also gained momentum.

Experts predict that the wave of migration will continue if the economic situation in Turkey does not improve.

GERMANY HAS TAKEN MEASURES AT ITS BORDERS

Seeking to curb the wave of illegal migration, Germany is increasing border controls and inspections within the Schengen area.

However, despite the measures taken, the flow of migration continues. In the first eight months of 2024, the number of Turks who entered Germany and applied for asylum exceeded 21 thousand.

Germany aims to ensure that illegal migrants are sent back to the countries where they first entered by cooperating with other EU countries.

The number of people who have migrated from Turkey to other countries has approached around 1 million in the last five years.
