Impact of Hurricane Helene continues in the US: Hundreds remain missing

Following the disasters caused by Category 4 Hurricane Helene, which struck the US Florida coastline last week, it has been reported that the death toll in the southeastern states has exceeded 90.

The negative effects of Hurricane Helene, which hit the Florida coast with winds of approximately 225 kilometers per hour, continue.

Authorities announced that the number of people who lost their lives in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Virginia, where the hurricane's severe winds and rainfall were effective, has risen above 90.

According to CNN, authorities stated that 600 people are missing in Buncombe County, North Carolina alone, and announced that 36 people have died across the state.

US President Joe Biden is expected to visit the regions affected by the hurricane during the week.

HURRICANE HELENE STRUCK US SOUTHERN STATES

The US National Hurricane Center had announced that Hurricane Helene hit the northwestern coast of Florida with winds of approximately 225 kilometers per hour. The hurricane quickly affected Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee as well.

Power outages occurred in over 1.2 million homes and businesses in Florida, the first place hit by the hurricane, 1 million in Georgia, 1.3 million in South Carolina, and 600 thousand in North Carolina.

President Biden declared a "state of disaster" in Florida and North Carolina and ordered "federal aid" for those negatively affected by the hurricane.
