The retiree protest held on Wednesday was marked by violent incidents. It was reported that football fans and unions also joined the retirees who gathered against austerity measures. Security forces intervened against the protesters with water cannons, tear gas, and rubber bullets. At least 20 people were injured and 124 were detained during the clashes. 114 of those arrested were later released.

According to a report by the Buenos Aires Times, while some of the protesters threw stones and sound grenades at the police, others chanted slogans peacefully. Footage from Argentina showed a police vehicle and a motorcycle being set on fire, and barricades made of rubble being erected in the streets.

Government officials claimed that there were hooligans among the protesters, while Milei's opponents argued that security forces used excessive force. In a video circulating on social media, a police officer was seen pushing an elderly woman to the ground. In another video, a police officer could be heard shouting, 'Come here, leftists.'
