Important ruling from France regarding visa rejections for Turkish citizens
A court in France has ruled that the rejection of visa applications for Turkish citizens who have submitted complete documentation is unlawful.
A lawsuit filed by a Turkish mother and daughter whose visa application to visit relatives living in France was rejected has concluded. In the case heard in Strasbourg, the court ruled that the rejection of a visa for Turkish citizens who have submitted all necessary documents for a Schengen visa application is unlawful.
The court stated that the applicants had submitted all documents in full, including flight tickets, high-coverage travel insurance, an official invitation letter, and sufficient financial means. It further emphasized that they had strong ties to Turkey (regular income, real estate, family) and stated that the grounds of "suspicion of not returning" and "migration risk" lacked any concrete basis.
PRECEDENT-SETTING RULING FOR TURKISH CITIZENS
The fact that the French Ministry of the Interior did not submit a defense to the file was also evaluated as a factor weakening the rejection decision. This ruling sets a precedent for Turkish citizens who have experienced visa rejections on similar grounds.
NEW VISA-FREE TRAVEL REGULATION FOR TURKS FROM MONTENEGRO
On the other hand, Montenegro has reinstated the visa-free travel right for Turkish citizens, which it had previously canceled. However, the duration of the visa-free stay has been reduced from 90 days to 30 days.
